Current Research

The synthesis  of nucleotide analogues based on Uracil  & Adenine as antimicrobial, anticancer, antiparasitic  and antiviral agents.

The use of azides and alkenes in click reactions to prepare organotransistion metal photosensitisers.

The use of reactive intermediates (azides, carbenes, radicals) and silanes to enhance adhesion, functionalisation  and encapsulation of surfaces.

The synthesis of chemical compounds (peptides, reactive agents) as antiparasitic, anticancer agents  targeting the glutathione and trypanothine cycle (oxidative stress) & cell membranes.

The synthesis of  electrophillic nitrogen compounds as active site directed reagents targeting enzymes associated with oxidative stress for use as anticancer and antiparasitic reagents.

The synthesis of heterocyclic pyrrole derivatives and their use in the preparation of polypyrrole film for use in sensors, and biomedical applications.
