About

UK artist, filmmaker and independent curator, working across film and video, photography, printmaking and social media.

I attempt to activate the critical potential of moving images for narrative and spatial recombination, or as channels for acts of memory and participation. I’m trying to explore a notion of Cinema 4.0 - future possibilities of moving images as unique mutations of material, site, and social productive relations.  My work tends to blend analogue and digital media with still and moving images, or dead and alive apparatus. I try to question the archival instinct, and think about our human urge to hoard and remix media fragments.

I work with other institutions and artists on organizing, documentation, advice and selection for exhibition, research or screening projects, most recently with Abandon Normal Devices festival.

I’m a Senior Lecturer at Manchester School of Art (2011-).  In 2000-02 I operated as Pharmakon (VJ & music-video) producing clips and gig visuals.  From 1997-2000 I was member of Whitecube space/prog/noise collective.
