About
I am a senior lecturer in public relations at Manchester Metropolitan University. My main interests are professionalism in public relations, professional bodies and governmentality, 'occupational democracy' and public relations and the rhetoric and practice of continuous professional development.
Prior to joining the academic community I worked in the public relations industry, initially working on consumer and B2B media relations, then moving into regional public affairs and community liaison work.
I have recently completed a paper with a former colleague from Wolverhampton University, Dr Alan Apperley, which applied Foucault's 'tool kit' to the public relations professional body, CIPR; and we are looking to develop this work to look at CPD discourses more generally.
When not working, I have two children to keep me busy but I also like to read, walk, socialise and dance - Latin American, Salsa & Rock 'n' Roll.
